At the request of Bevinda Collaco, here is my first blog on how to make

Orrisa / Oddiya – Gossaim / Gossalim Bhaji

Prepare the following:
Chop two Gossiam into slices.
Slice three onions.
Boil and chop one potato.
Grind 1″ ginger, 6 large cloves garlic, 2 tsp jeera into a paste with water.
Grind 4 tblspoon black mustard in water. Extract the juice and throw away the seeds.
Grind 6 tablespoon khuskhus (poppyseed) with water.
Keep ready…mustard oil, cumin powder, red chilli powder, salt.

Heat 3 tablespoon mustard oil in one pan and another 2 tablespoon in another pan.
Sauté the onions till soft in the three tablespoon mustard oil pan and the GOSSAIM bhaji in the other.
Keep vegetable aside when soft.
In the onion pan add the khuskhus paste.
Fry and cook well with a little water.
Add one teaspoon turmeric powder. Cook a bit.
Add one teaspoon red chilli powder. Add a teaspoons salt.
Cook well with a little water till dry.
Add the ginger garlic paste and fry till the oil leaves the mixture. About five minutes.
Add mustard juice. Continue to cook with a little water till oil leaves the paste.
Add the vegetables, the potato and stir fry till cooked and the water evaporates.
Add one teaspoon cumin powder.
Serve hot with fresh chopped corriander (optional).


NOTE: Instead of GOSSAIM Bhaji, one can also substitute with fish or prawns or any other vegetable.
